Architectural variety gives Congress Park an air of eclectic charm. Located just east of the Denver Botanic Gardens, the neighborhood features easy access to Cherry Creek and downtown, and is within walking distance of public amenities including a neighborhood art cinema and bookstore, parks, and a popular outdoor swimming pool. Gorgeous brick bungalows and Denver squares are the norm, and in particular, homes along historic 7th Ave Pkwy are beautifully maintained and much sought after. Although primarily a quiet, residential neighborhood, it features a scattering of small, charming retail areas with boutique shops and casual eateries.

The Congress Park Neighborhood

The trees, the park and the proximity to downtown offer urban proximity without sacrificing the tranquility and peace of a "quiet neighborhood." Walking the Congress Park neighborhood is a treat. The big trees provide character and shade for walking/running in the summertime. It's perfectly situated next to Cherry Creek, the Botanic Gardens, City Park, and all of the new things happening on Colfax and the 9th and Colorado redevelopment.

Congress Park’s Homes

Congress Park is mostly residential with a smattering of condo/apartment complexes. The eclectic neighborhood hosts a mixture of 1890s victorians (the first homes built in the neighborhood), Denver squares, and bungalows, sprinkled with some smaller condo buildings. You’ll notice asymmetrical architecture, textured surfaces, wraparound porches, art glass and high brick chimneys as evidence of the neighborhood’s victorian builds.

The History of Congress Park, Denver

Until the gold rush of the 1850s, the land that is now Congress Park was Native American land. General William Larimer, one of the city's founders, claimed a large plot of land in the 1850s that included Cheesman Park and Congress Park. The neighborhood became officially "platted" by the city of Denver in the 1890s and eventually attracted affluent city dwellers who craved access to the city but with the quiet charm of the urban outskirts.
