Nestled catty-corner to Wash Park and Lincoln Park, Denver’s Baker neighborhood has a lot to offer. It goes without saying that this neighborhood boasts convenient proximity to some of Denver’s most popular locations.

Baker is 2.3 Miles to the Cherry Creek Mall, 2.6 miles to Wash Park and just blocks from the Cherry Creek Bike Path and the Alameda Light Rail Station. Plus, this conveniently located neighborhood provides easy access to 6th Avenue for those trips to the Mountains and to I-25.

You’ll find plentiful local dining along South Broadway, including Mt Fuji, Lena, Punch Bowl Social and Max's Wine and Dive (they even have gluten free fried chicken and waffles). Sweet Action Ice Cream and The Sugar Bake Shop will satisfy your sweet tooth while Fancy Tiger, Starlet, and Wizard’s Chest will provide retail therapy.

Baker is one of Denver’s few neighborhoods with both locally owned shops and abundant chain retail. Baker is home to Pep Boys, Office Depot, Safeway, McDonalds, Ace Hardware, Dollar Tree, Taco Bell, and more!

PARKING: DIFFICULT

With all that Baker has to offer, parking can be tricky. Heavy parking traffic can overflow from retail areas into surrounding neighborhood streets.

VIBE: HIP

As soon as you stroll through the Baker Neighborhood, you notice that it is unique.  The neighborhood has the largest collection of Queen Anne Middle Class homes in Denver.
The schools and many magnificent historic churches were all built in the Queen Anne Style. Offsetting much classic architecture, Baker hosts some of the trendiest shops and dining in all of Denver. This Denver neighborhood is a frequent destination for Denver residents and beyond.

THE BAKER NEIGHBORHOOD

Home to many artists & professionals, young families and hip singles, Baker is a vibrant urban neighborhood. The Mayan Theatre and Blue Bonnet restaurant are local landmarks. Nightspots, galleries, coffee houses and independent shops punctuate this hoppin' neighborhood. Today, Baker enjoys a diverse urban population, preserved historic homes, proximity to Broadway’s Main Street development which promises diverse shopping, casual and fine dining, and an array of entertainment, as well as access to mass transit. Community Events include the Baker Ice Cream Social and Historic South Broadway Walking Tour.  

BAKER'S HOMES

One of Denver's oldest neighborhoods, Baker has seen many a heyday and revival. Victorian homes stand alongside funky old bungalows, freshly remodeled duplexes and newer condo complexes. While filled with Rich History, Baker is also home to one of Denver's Premier Luxury Condo Buildings and to Fentress Architects.  (Architect of Denver International Airport).

THE HISTORY OF BAKER, DENVER

The Baker neighborhood is a diverse, dynamic neighborhood located in the urban core of Denver, Colorado. First plotted and developed in the 1870s, Baker has played a central role in the history of Denver. Baker was home to Denver's Pro Baseball Team from 1893-1922 and also the home of Denver's First Newspaper. The Stately Chittenden Mansion sits on the corner of 4th and Acoma and was home to one of Denver's first Cattle Ranchers.  History books claim that Broadway was once a dirt road created by someone dragging a log after a flood  to make a "broad way".
